What is the atomic number?
The atomic number is the amount of protons in each atom. It is usually
located on the very top of each element on the periodic table.
How are the elements ordered?
As you move across each row, starting from the very top left corner, left to right, the atomic number increases.
The first element with the lowest atomic number of 1 would be Hydrogen, on the top left corner. The element with the largest atomic number would be Lawrencium with a total of 103 protons on the bottom right corner.
